This clay mask has transformed my skin. I had no expectations when I first threw it together for a girlfriend and myself during a weekend visit at my cabin in the Texas Hill Country. We applied it, smiling at one another in the bathroom mirror, and continued chatting happily as it worked its magic. The next day we were amazed at just how vibrant our skin looked and felt!
Since then, I’ve refined the formula and added two of my favorite skin-brightening herbs: Tulsi + Rosemary. These herbs encourage circulation of blood and lymph to the tissue, improving not only the appearance but also the health of the skin. They are rich in anti-oxidants and help to repair sun damage and reduce fine lines. If you don’t have them on hand, you can simply use rosewater or even spring water in their place, or experiment with other herbal allies such as Elder, Chamomile, or Mint.
Most folks recommend allowing clay masks to dry completely. I personally recommend rinsing this one off right before it begins to harden and crack. Clay is a very powerful drawing substance, and while it’s helpful for removing impurities and reducing the appearance of enlarged pores, it can also be really drying and strip your skin of its natural oils. As always, listen to yourself and your own skin’s wisdom and do let me know what you think in the comments below!
